Trains!

We had our first railroad crossing for a train where we actually had to stop.

Dad was happy, because he loves trains. He's weird like that...

Fortunately, it wasn't a very long train...

I guess it's official...

We're official Texans now. Our cars declare it.

The Most Exciting Post of All

We got an elliptical!!!! Yes! Actually, we got one, put it together(Ok, Dad put it together), discovered it was broken, took it apart, returned it, got a new one, and the put that one together. But it doesn't matter because now we have an elliptical!!!

So now I can work out without going into the heat and humidity! Yay!

New Beret

I made a new hat, because I have an inability to uni-task, and have to be doing something with my hands. Also, I needed something to do while waiting at the bank...for an hour...and when we were getting new plates for our cars...for 45 minutes... But its way too hot to wear it. It's 100% wool! I can't wait until Fall when I can actually wear the stuff I knit.

New Furniture

We've been getting loads of new furniture. We got new shelves for the library, so we can finally put our books away(YAY!).

They're so pretty...

mmmmm....look at all that Jane Austen...why yes, I do have three copies of Pride and Prejucide. :D

We also got a new dining room table and chairs. They match the bookshelves.

For the "family room" we got a new cabinet for all our cd's and dvd's.

And a TV stand, as well as a new "home theater system," which basically means that we have surround sound and could use blueray discs if we wanted to.

But we have nothing to watch them on! We donated our old couches to charity, but the new ones haven't come yet!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

It was Dad's birthday today so we went out to eat! We went to Chuy's, a Mexican resturaunt that is pretty...eclectic.

They decorated the ceiling of one room entirely with hubcaps, and they only play 80's music. They celebrate Elvis's birthday and even cook some of his favorite foods.

Chuy's has great salsa. They have a white sauce that's like ranch dressing with jalapenos mixed in. It sounds gross, but it's tasty. The food was good too, but the portions seemed really big.

After dinner we went back to Uncle Andy and Aunt Cori's house for cake and presents. Aunt Cori made lemon cake(Dad's favorite), and Uncle Andy played guitar while we sang happy birthday.

Dad isn't one for much celebration but I think he had a good birthday.

And the best present of all...Mom got a job!!! At a quilt store! She starts work Monday. :D

Muffins and more McKinney

Also made muffins again today. This time they were apple. Not as good as the blueberry, those are my favorite, but still delicious. I think I might make improvements to the recipe.

Leftover McKinney pictures anyone?

Yarrrn!

Geckos Again

Soooo...remember how I said I didn't like geckos because they could be on pretty much any surface? My fears came true today. The surface was my desk. I was just sitting there knitting and minding my own business when this little baby geckos goes running across my desk.

So of course I walk casually to the garage, and go get Dad and tell him to get the scary lizard out of my room. T.J. came too, not really to help, but more to insult me for being afraid of a tiny gecko.

They chased they gecko all over my desk and finally caught him with a Tupperware container. They then took him outside and released him back into the wild. Lets hope he stays there.

More McKinney...

Even though it's in Texas, McKinney has streets like Tennessee and Louisiana.

Mom and Popcorn is a little shop that sells...popcorn. duh. and old fashioned candy. They sell all sorts of flavors of popcorn(cheese, ranch...uh...grape?).

They also sell a ton of old candies that you don't see much anymore. It's really fun to just go and look around.

Evelyn made friends with any dog she came across in any of the stores.

This is my new headboard! The one behind the ugly cat painting. It's not going to stay pink. We're going to strip it, then paint it white and distress it. And the best part...it was only $38!

The Pantry

This is where we went for lunch. It's a pretty popular place in McKinney. They have a lot of sandwiches. It's a really good place to eat lunch. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the food; it's so good.

They have a lot of fresh pies and desserts and that sort of thing. This one was really good, I don't remember what it's called though...

My uncle's sandwich. A turkey sandwich is muenster cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and chipotle mayo.

My sandwich. An Italian grilled cheese with tomato and basil pesto. It was delicious.
