Spring Creek Barbeque

Here are some more pictures from our dinner at Spring Creek Barbeque. I figured it was about time we tried some Texas barbeque.


You could get all sorts of stuff: beef, chicken sausage, ribs. The list goes on... And all the side "vegetables"(yes, mac'n'cheese counted as a vegetable) you could fit on your plate.


Then, every once and a while, during dinner, a waitress would walk around with a HUGE basket of rolls, fresh out of the oven, and offer them to everyone. They were piping hot, and they smelled and tasted delicious!


Oh, and you also get to take home the cups. So now we have a set of 4 "Spring Creek Barbeque" cups to remind up to come back.

Visits from Friends

Last week the Van Winkles came for a visit! It was great to see some familiar faces again. I never imagined I'd get to see Grace so soon.

We showed them around town and went to visit the quilt store where Mom works.


We also went to the most delicious barbecue place. It was tons of fun. The workers sing as they cook, which was really fun. Plus, it tasted great!


And of course, Grace and I stayed up way too late talking and seized the opportunity to take as many cheesy pictures as we could. We even made a music video! The Van Winkles may have left us, the memory of their visit definitely hasn't, and has become a happy, shining moment took look back on.

Brewing Storm

This the was the storm that was brewing when my parents left for Costco, and the storm that dumped buckets of rain on them at Costco. No rain at home, but I could hear the thunder.

You Know You're in Texas When...

You know you're in Texas when you don't need grocery stores, just Super Target and Wal-Mart.


You know you're in Texas when everyone acts like 30 m.p.h. is excruciatingly slow.


When most "mexican" food comes covered in queso(read:velveeta)


You know you're in Texas when a chalupa is a tostada.(Apparently they've decided that a chalupa= a tostada. I'm not sure what either is exactly...)

mmmm...Ikea

Tuesday is Mom's day off, so we made another trip to Ikea. And of course we got cinnamon rolls, why do you think I went?





We actually got a what Ikea calls a "sofa bed" but it's totally a futon. I didn't actually take any picture of it. I just took pictures of this bed because I bought the same comforter cover.

Bread-Cake? Cake-Bread?

On weird thing we've noticed here in Texas, is that food seems to go bad really quick. Especially fruit. Because of that, we needed to use up some old bananas before they went bad and got truly gross.

We tried a new recipe for banana....well, banana something. It's pretty much the taste and texture of banana bread(with mini chocolate chips, of course.), but it's a little moister, and made in a bundt pan. So would that make it banana cake?? That just sounds weird. What do we call this part cake, part bread hybrid? Cake-bread? Bread-Cake? You can't combine the words, it doesn't work.


Right now, the only thing I can call this banana baked good is tasty.
